
Kultivate Labs Board Member
Kultivate Labs was started in 2017 to help SOMA Pilipinas create a thriving commercial corridor and arts eco-system in the cultural district. The organization has grown by leaps and bounds. It operates 2 programming spaces, attracts 10,000’s of people to the district, supports over 35 creatives and 60+ businesses, and has an operating budget that has grown 10-20% a year and is currently at $3mill and growing.

The Kultivate Labs board members are charged with supporting the Executive Director in the strategic thinking around the organization's programs and how they fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.
The board is also in charge of approving annual budgets, approving major purchases, approving debt, and other fiduciary duties. Board members are also expected to facilitate strategic connections for the org, fundraise, and support the endeavors of Kultivate Labs however they can.

We are especially looking for those who offer:
Fundraising and nonprofit management experience, with the ability to help develop new funding streams
Board leadership with oversight of budgets of $1 million or more, and familiarity with governance practices
Architectural or construction expertise (preferred, not required) to support capital projects like Republika and Kapwa 2.0
Diverse lived experiences, including differences in sexual orientation, age, geography, and profession
Queer-identifying individuals or those grounded in queer politics
Candidates from outside the Bay Area who bring a compelling perspective or “superpower”
Lived knowledge of SOMA Pilipinas, including history, culture, and community dynamics
Strong interpersonal qualities, including being a good listener, advocate, constructive communicator, and someone who complements the board with a forward-thinking, collaborative mindset

Kultivate Labs is seeking to fill two new board seats with individuals who bring a strong mix of strategic experience, cultural understanding, and inclusive leadership. Ideal candidates will help guide the organization’s next chapter by supporting its mission of cultural and economic equity.
