About Izzy & Wooks

The journey began in a Filipino grocery store in Stockton, CA, where the founder spent his teenage years hauling rice, grilling BBQ at Barrio Fiesta, and baking pandesal whenever the head cook was away. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion for making people happy through food.


More than 20 years ago, he and his wife Cheryl began opening restaurants and cafés together, starting with bubble tea shops in the South Bay. They later launched three Inay Filipino Kitchens across the Bay Area, serving authentic Filipino cuisine for nearly a decade, followed by operating San Francisco’s first Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken from 2021 to early 2025.


Izzy & Wooks is the culmination of those experiences—imagined in their home kitchen alongside their daughter Isabel and English bulldog, Wookie. It blends the flavors of an Asian-American pantry with the classic sandwiches they love.
